Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community.
The concept of Networking was the key basis for the organization. SHPE quickly established two student chapters to begin the network that would grow to encompass the nation as well as reach countries outside the United States. Today, SHPE enjoys a strong but independent network of professional and student chapters throughout the nation.

Who We Are

SHPE stages regional leadership development conferences on a yearly basis for the leadership of the SHPE student chapters to improve their organizational, managerial, and technical skills. They take place in all of the seven SHPE regions.

What We Do

This program helps college students develop and improve their pre-college outreach programs and improve the infrastructure of SHPE student chapters.Student leaders learn how to interact and network with SHPE’s corporate supporters.

High School students from across NYC will participate in hands-on workshops focused on building awareness of STEM careers.

The SHPE RLDC serves as an opportunity for SHPE student members to network with members and corporate across the Northeast. Undergraduate members are able to enhance their leadership skills and thus put into practice what they have learned at RLDC into their roles as leaders on campus and within their respective chapters. Participation guarantees mentee to mentor relationships among students and professionals as the workshops are designed to promote interconnectedness. It is a wonderful opportunity that you won’t want to miss!
